Wheel & Unwind
what students are saying
Step away from the busyness of everyday life and spend two relaxed hours learning the art of wheel throwing in Sarah Schembri's warm and welcoming studio in the heart of Fitzroy.
More than a pottery class, Wheel & Unwind is a chance to slow down, reconnect and enjoy the simple pleasure of creating something with your own hands.
With your own pottery wheel for the entire session, you'll be introduced to the fundamentals of wheel throwing, from centering and opening your clay to pulling, shaping and refining your pieces. Our experienced tutors will guide you throughout the session, helping you develop confidence at the wheel while encouraging you to experiment and find your own style.
To make the evening extra special, you'll also enjoy a complimentary glass of wine or refreshing non-alcoholic drink on arrival, along with a delicious grazing board. It's the perfect combination of learning something new, getting creative and enjoying a relaxed evening with good company.
And the best part? You won't just leave with a great evening behind you. Choose your two favourite creations and we'll take care of the finishing touches, professionally trimming, glazing and firing them for you. Your finished pieces will be ready to collect from the studio in approximately 3 - 4 weeks.

Your Teacher
Sarah has been working with clay for over 20 years, full time as a teacher and potter for 12 years. Sarah originally started her career within the corporate world, soon discovering pottery as an after-hours passion, exploring her creativity. She found that ‘throwing’ pottery on a wheel gave her great satisfaction and relaxation. After some time, Sarah made the decision to shift her professional career from an office life ~ to pursue her passion for pottery and tableware.
Sarah worked and studied Ceramics at Ballarat University, where she developed her bold – yet incredibly organic style.
Sarah has been truly humbled by her successful career as a full-time artist and now wishes to teach others and provide an enjoyable, relaxed environment to learn and create.
Sarah’s motto; Love, create and inspire.
